This review is of Texas Wildcat by Linda Benjamin, a 1988 Zebra Lovegram historical romance. It’s definitely a solid 4-star book.

Gothic Romance Review: My Name is Clary Brown by Charlotte Keppel
My Name is Clary Brown by Charlotte Keppel (nee Ursula Torday) was first published in 1976 under the title When I Say Goodbye, I’m Clary Brown. Diamond is an actress of little renown and loses her “protector’s” patronage. She returns to her home village where she finds many of her childhood friends have died. There are dark forces that seem directed at her. Could she be the next victim in a long string of murders? 5 stars
Historical Romance Review: Hearts Aflame by Johanna Lindsey
With her 14th book, Lindsey was on a roll, writing blockbuster romance after blockbuster romance. Hearts Aflame was the sequel to Lindsey’s third book, Fires of Winter.
Historical Romance Review: And Gold Was Ours by Rebecca Brandewyne
And Gold Was Ours is a sequel of sorts to Rebecca Brandewyne‘s Love, Cherish Me. I’d consider this more of a companion piece. While both novels have Brandewyne’s hallmark baroque-gothic atmosphere, And Gold Was Ours is not as dark and emotional as its predecessor. 3.63 stars
Historical Romance Review: Angel in Scarlet by Jennifer Wilde
Angel In Scarlet isn’t a bodice ripper. It’s a Georgian-Era chick-lit. This is a hard one to categorize. It’s not just a romance, but more of a heroine’s journey through life and her relationships with several men she meets along the way. 4 stars
Historical Romance Review: Secret Fire by Johanna Lindsey
Secret Fire was the second Johanna Lindsey romance I read and cemented her works among my favorites. This romance set in Russia and Victorian England was released during Lindsey’s peak years of output. 5 stars
Historical Romance Review: Once a Princess by Johanna Lindsey
Once a Princess was not one of my favorites by Johanna Lindsey. I’d put this in the unremarkable category with books like Glorious Angel and Tender is the Storm. Not her worst, by any means, but not her best either. 2 stars
Historical Romance Review: The Heir by Johanna Lindsey
Was this tepid, dull romance actually penned by Johanna Lindsey? The Heir was Lindsey’s first book where I noticed a weird change. Previously, if there was a Lindsey I didn’t like, it was due to a meandering plot or excessive fighting between the leads. There is friendship for sure in this one, but romantic isn’t what I’d call the relationship between Duncan and Sabrina. 2 stars
Historical Romance Review: Halfway to Paradise by Emily Bradshaw
Halfway to Paradise by Emily Bradshaw wasn’t the worst book ever, but it was exceptionally dull. Only the stunning Elaine Duillo artwork for the cover saves this book from the garbage pile. 1.5 Stars
Historical Romance Review: Enchantress Mine by Bertrice Small
Despite some crazy scenes, the Bertrice Small Medieval Romance, Enchantress Mine, suffers from a too-perfect heroine and a dull hero. 2 1 /2 stars
Historical Romance Review: The Magic of You by Johanna Lindsey
The Magic of You, Johanna Lindsey’s 4th novel in her Malory series, is a wonderful romance about a vixenish heroine in pursuit of her family’s hated enemy. 5 stars
Historical Romance Review: The Innocent by Bertrice Small
It was a bad sign that Bertrice Small’s The Innocent features one of her dullest covers ever. The lone positive was that it was designed as one last created by legendary artist Elaine Duillo for her dear friend Bertrice. 1 star
Historical Romance Review: Born to Love by Valerie Sherwood
Born to Love by Valerie Sherwood was a book about four generations of women hat reached great highs and very middling lows. 4 stars
Historical Romance Review: The Jacaranda Tree by Rebecca Brandewyne
The Jacaranda Tree was my least favorite of Rebecca Brandewyne’s historicals, mainly because it was almost a verbatim regurgitation of conversations, plot points, and love scenes from other book
Historical Romance Review: Love, Cherish Me by Rebecca Brandewyne
Love Cherish Me by Rebecca Brandewyne is an
is a western epic, filled with murder, sex, death, trauma. Absolutely amazing. 5 stars
