Theme: Harlequin Presents 1980s
The covers for Harlequin Presents romances in the 1980s were more sensual than the 1970s covers. The solo heroine pose gave way to a clinch. Initially, the embracing couple was put against a collage background. Then later, the clinch was the only image set inside that classic round keyhole.
Various talented artists created covers for the Presents line in the 1980s. Artists from that decade included Will Davies, Fred Oakley, William Biddle, Len Goldberg, Ron Lesser, Norm Eastman, Oliviero Berni, Peter Attard, Ralph Amatrudi, Dick Kohfield, Ray Olivere, David Craig, Rudy Nappi, Tom Bjarnason, and Sharon Spiak.
Thanks to our friend Iris at Goodreads, we’ve learned so much about the talented artists who illustrated covers for the line. And much, much more about Mills & Boon artists. She’s a super knowledgeable account that anyone interested in learning about romance cover art should follow.
