Janelle Taylor’s Sweet Savage Heart, a Zebra Lovegram historical romance, begins in Dakota Territory, May 1867. It is here that an Oglala Indian maiden, Wild Wind, the heroine of the book, is troubled, for she is arguing with her brother, Lone Wolf, over her future. Bottom Line: Sweet Savage Heart is one of Janelle Taylor’s best books. 5 stars

Catherine Creel’s Texas Torment is a Zebra historical romance with a secret-marriage plot we’ve seen before in her more superior Passion’s Chains. 2 stars
Zebra Heartfire Romance Love’s Glorious Gamble by Dana Ransom Gloria Daniels teams up with gambler Sterling Caulder to transform her identity and find out who murdered her father. 3 stars
When my cat destroyed the cover of my edition of Jane Feather’s Beloved Enemy, chewing it to shreds, I lamented the loss. It was a pretty cover, although I cared nothing for the book. Beloved Enemy begins with an intriguing premise, then about 20 pages in, the annoying “insta-luv” trope rears its head. Everything goes downhill from there. 2 stars
