Moonstruck Madness was Laurie McBain’s second and, in my opinion, her best book. It is a thrilling read. 4.5 Stars
Historical Romance Authors
Historical Romance Review: Texas Storm by Deana James
It’s the mid-1830’s and Scottish immigrant Reiver MacPherson has been granted lands by the new Texas government…So begins Deana James’ Texas Storm.
Historical Romance Review: Once a Princess by Johanna Lindsey
Once a Princess was not one of my favorites by Johanna Lindsey. I’d put this in the unremarkable category with books like Glorious Angel and Tender is the Storm. Not her worst, by any means, but not her best either. 2 stars
Historical Romance Review: Sweet Prairie Passion by Rosanne Bittner
This review is of Sweet Prairie Passion, book #1 in the “Savage Destiny” series by Rosanne Bittner. If you love books that will stir your emotions-good and bad-and leave one feeling as you’ve been on a roller coaster, books like Ms. Bittner’s Sweet Prairie Passion will be your jam. 5 stars
Authors We Have a Love-Hate Relationship With: Rosanne Bittner
Many readers have authors they love to read. Some have authors whose work they hate. Still others, however, have authors whose work they love, but may also have issues with. One such author for me is Rosanne Bittner.
Historical Romance Review: The Heir by Johanna Lindsey
Was this tepid, dull romance actually penned by Johanna Lindsey? The Heir was Lindsey’s first book where I noticed a weird change. Previously, if there was a Lindsey I didn’t like, it was due to a meandering plot or excessive fighting between the leads. There is friendship for sure in this one, but romantic isn’t what I’d call the relationship between Duncan and Sabrina. 2 stars
Historical Romance Review: Siren Song by Roberta Gellis
Siren Song, is the first in Roberta Gellis’ Medieval Song trilogy. Lady Elizabeth is heiress to vast lands and married to Mauger, a cruel, murderous lord. Elizabeth’s heart is for Sir William of Marlowe, her former love. 4 stars
Historical Romance Review: Fires of Winter by Roberta Gellis
Told through alternating first-person perspectives, Roberta Gellis’s Fires of Winter starts with a bang but ends with a whimper. 3 stars
Historical Romance Review: Lovespell by Deana James
Lovespell is yet another great romance by the eclectic Deana James. Gillian is an English fletcher who poses as twins, the male Gil & female Gillian. 4 1/2 stars
Author Spotlight: Johanna Lindsey
Johanna Lindsey was one of my favorite romance authors. Her books had defiant heroines, heroes in pursuit, laughter, and love. Lindsey’s covers were beautiful. Her romance novels deserve to be remembered for the fun, thrilling stories they were!
