Happy Vernal Equinox (First Day of Spring) 2022

Happy Spring 2022!

Happy Spring! (Or if you’re located on the other side of the planet, Happy Autumn!)

Today, March 20, 2022, marks the return of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere, the season of life beginning. It’s also known as the vernal equinox. That’s only one of two days out of the year where they are equal length for night and day. The other day is the Autumnal equinox, usually September 23 or 22.

Spring is the season of love (Although more babies are naturally conceived during the winter months! It’s true. What have you been doing all winter long, hmm? 😁)

Maybe it’s that dopamine hit we get from the beautiful scenery: the bright colors, the heady fragrances of the flowers, and the greenery coming to life. Many people in wintery climates suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder, where they feel depressed during the dark grey season. However, when the sun’s extra rays hit the hemisphere with a super dose of Vitamin D, people feel reinvigorated and willing to face any challenge…

A Season For Love

…Even falling in love.

Personally, we’re more Autumnal in nature, as the change of seasons from summer to winter inspires a different kind of beauty and (to us) a deeper kind of love.

But there’s nothing like the first romance in bloom. In Latin languages, the word for Spring translates into “first-seen” (Italian, Spanish, & Portuguese “primavera“) as in the first seen sight of life–or love.

So let’s celebrate the end of winter and the entrance of the months of re-birth and life! Happy Spring 2022!

As Biz Markie once sang, “It’s spring again…this is the time to fall in love.”

About Jacqueline Diaz

Old-School, retro, and vintage romance reads are my jam, baby! The good, the bad, the cheesy, and the sleazy! I have no shame about it; I love ’em! An auto-didact, amateur historian, and reader of romance novels since 1990, I hope to offer a unique perspective on the genre. As a blogger, you may know me by several names; here, I’m Jacqueline Diaz. I’m also the aspiring author of two works-in-progress, historical romances, The Savage Noble and What She Says with Her Eyes, which hopefully will be released in 2023.
