Father’s Day is coming up! For that reason, this Covers of the Week, we’re spotlighting some romance covers featuring dads and their kids.

Theme: Father’s Day Covers
In honor of Father’s Day, we’ll be showcasing a selection of covers from the 1980s and 1990s that feature dads and their children.
During that era, it was very popular to have babies on romance covers. It’s clear the trend of featuring babies during the late 20th century reflected the cultural shift towards valuing family. Thus, the role of fathers in child-rearing was always seen as necessary.
Therefore, let’s appreciate the male role models in our lives and how they shaped our futures. From providing love and support to teaching important life lessons, fathers are an integral part of families.
From proud dads holding their little ones to fathers playing with their kids, these covers are sure to tug at your heartstrings. Whether it’s a classic Harlequin or a traditional Regency romance, these images capture the timeless bond between fathers and their children.
Thanks to all the fantastic dads out there. And also thanks to the authors and artists who captured the beauty of fatherhood on the covers of these romance novels.

The underlying illustration is appealing but wow category romances in the 1990s had simply appalling cover design. Cluttered, tacky, bad color choices…I wasn’t reading romance during the 90s but I doubt these would have attracted me. In fact I lean toward thinking it’s somewhat disrespectful of the cover artist’s efforts.
