Rob Ashton was voted “Romantic Times” Mr. Romance in 1995. To many women’s delight, the 6-ft tall, black hair, hazel-eyed, model went on to grace many romance novel covers. Rob Ashton passed away Monday, August 26, 2007, due to complications from surgery.
Chad Deal posed for hundreds of romance covers in the late 1970s and into the 1980s. Perhaps one of the first male cover model icons, Deal had a long and successful career. He posed for twice as many covers with Elaine Duillo as Fabio did ( 40+ vs. 19).
Fabio Lanzoni is the face that launched millions of romance book sales. When people think of romance, he is one of the first images that we think of. We’ve gone in-depth over Fabio’s life and career and are big fans of his covers! He was the first mega super cover model of romance.
Mike O’Hearn modeled for Topaz in the 1990s. He has black belts in Judo, Tae Kwon Do, and Karate and is a former California Judo Champion. He also is a four-time California Power Lifting Champion and a four-time Mr. Universe, Mr. Natural Universe, Mr. America, Mr. International, and Mr. World, as well as Model of The Year seven times! All this, plus a male cover model for romance!
